Why Silver City, New Mexico?

Why Silver City? Crystalline skies, wilderness, and over 3 million acres of Gila National Forest with prehistoric ruins, year around recreation and a fabulous climate. High desert, where delicious spring weather comes twice each year, with July and August's monsoons bringing a moist cool season of dramatic clouds and rainstorms that carpets hills and valleys with wildflowers... and then there is fall, the golden aspens and cottonwoods amongst the evergreen oaks, pine, junipers and cedars. Winter brings some snow, more beauty complete with New Mexico blue skies and sun and easy-access ski areas.

Along with the great outdoors, there is a large body of artistic talent. Paintings, photographs, sculptures, clay works, pen and inks, metalwork, textiles and jewelry are widely exhibited in the many galleries and shops. Several venues in the evening have live music.

Fine restaurateurs have settled in the Silver City areas to share their artistry in the culinary field. Fresh bread, desserts and exquisitely prepared seafood, meat and vegetarian cuisine are available for any meal. The Food Coop, with specialty foods, the farmers' market (in season) and the grocery stores will satisfy all food cravings for the cooks. The Twisted Vine has the finest wine, still or sparkling, red or white, all New Mexico's best offerings, an evening of live music or purchases to take home.
